Sicily

Sicily, an authentic island

The largest island in the Mediterranean remains a living testimony to the numerous civilizations which have dominated it over the years. From the Phoenicians in the 11th century BC to the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, French, to Spanish, each culture has left its mark… The Sicilian culture is, therefore, the result of an extraordinary mix of influences, on its language, art, architecture, and cuisine.

Sicily is an open-air museum, together with its coves with turquoise waters and historic sites, the Valley of the Temples, the remarkably preserved Roman mosaics of the Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina, or the baroque cities in Val di Noto are all unforgettable. Nothing compares to the unique Arab-Norman art and architecture in Palermo. And the impressive Cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale are definitely worth a visit. To the East, you can visit Etna, one of Europe’s most active volcanoes (3,357 m!)

It will come as no surprise that Sicily has seven Unesco heritage sites, the highest number in all of Italy’s regions.

But above all, Sicily is the Sicilians with their innate sense of hospitality. You will be charmed by their spontaneous welcome and their desire to share with you their love for this beautiful and diverse island.
Sicily offers a perfect mix of culture, relaxation, natural beauty, and tradition to make your trip unforgettable!
